While Kamaru Usman Shined, Joaquin Buckley Fumbled

The former welterweight champion scored an efficient, one-sided decision win that could do a lot to boost his title fortunes.

At UFC Atlanta, Kamaru Usman looked elite again, snapping a three-fight losing skid and earning a clear unanimous decision victory (49-46, 49-46, 48-47) over Joaquin Buckley in the night’s main event.

In retrospect, I can’t tell if I was more wrong about Usman being done or about Buckley being ready to take on the division’s elite. ‘New Mansa’ turned in something of a shocking performance where he looked totally out of his depth both in takedown defense as well as wrestling up. He rallied well in the fifth round, but it was too little, too late.

In this post-fight show, I look at that bout plus Rose Namajunas vs. Miranda Maverick, the bizarre Paul Craig vs. Rodolfo Bellato ending and much more.
